Felting is one of the most ancient textile techniques and
most probably has its origins with Central Asian nomadic tribes.
They used wool to produce clothing and all kind of household items such as
bags, blankets, carpets, tents and even warriors' shields and breastplates. Centuries later, the craft found its
way to Europe, but lost importance again. Only in the last decades, artists and designers have re-discovered
the qualities of this simple but efficient archaic technique.
